INCO to buy Falconbridge

This may not mean much to most south of Parry Sound, but to, say, Sudburians, this is a big deal. This is a smart move for an industry that has been hurting since the fall of the Soviet Union flooded the markets with cheap minerals, particularly nickel. Unfortunately, I can't really see this move having an effect in real terms (e.g. new jobs) but at least it may help the new company hold on to the people they have in the years of ore left up north.
