Ontario Zoos rated poor by WSPA

This was really sad to read.  As a vegetarian and all-round nice guy to animals, I really feel bad when I read something like this.  I have a problem with zoos, both as an attraction, and as a last resort to many animals because we’ve destroyed their natural habitat.  It only makes it worse to see that when we force them to be on display for people, we make it even harder for the animals, who never had a say in the first place.

“Animals in zoos treated poorly Report Exotic and other wild animals in Ontario are often condemned to living in cramped, dirty and barren enclosures that don't properly protect the public, a report concludes.

The report, to be released today by the World Society for the Protection of Animals, says Ontario "stands out as the worst jurisdiction in Canada when it comes to ensuring the proper care of captive wildlife."
