Skateboarding is a crime?

This story makes me really mad. A kid goes to a huge skate park, his mom signs a waiver, he breaks his leg, he's allowed to sue said skate park. It proves:

1. Kids are stupid
2. Skateboarding should have never been dragged (kicking and screaming) into pop culture
3. The U.S. judicial system is a joke
4. Stupid kids have stupid parents

I can't believe this, really. It's so hard already to operate a skatepark, due to the incredibly high insurance costs, that only a few companies can afford to do it. After this, you won't see them anywhere. What's really ironic, is that skate parks have traditionally been seen as the "safer" alternative to skating in the street. In Toronto, you can't skate anywhere in the street without being ticketed. One alternative, my friend's park , Shred Central.

Personally, I can't wait until the whole skateboarding fad fades away again, so that it go back to being just "skateboarding", not some "extreme sport" or other B.S., that has every kid coming out of the woodwork trying to be cool. I hate to break it to you, but getting hurt is part of skateboarding. You take your licks and learn from it. It's "paying your dues". This is ridiculous.

Skateboarding: the greatest sport in the world. Now forget you ever heard of it, please?
